Happy New Year to all my fellow Metro NY PCA club members! As we usher in 2019, I want to take a moment to thank our previous Concours Chairperson, John Orrico, for his dedication, mentoring and support over the past few years. John has been an inspiration to me in the con- cours area of the club and I can’t thank him enough for his dedication to the Metro NY PCA club.
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Dave Neese. I was born and raised on Long Island (LawnGuyLand is the correct NY slang
- haha). I have been a car enthusiast my entire life. My wife, Carol Ann and I have been mem- bers of the Metro NY PCA club since October 2015 when we purchased our first Porsche, a 2011 Cayman S. I am the new Concours Chair- person for the Metro NY PCA club. Iím honored and excited to be a part of the team. On behalf of and my fellow concours team member, Joe Tunkel, we look forward to continuing to run the concours events the way John and his team have in previous years.
Now that 2019 is here, along with it comes the planning of the 2019 Concours events. Yes, it’s only January but we (ok, when I say “we” I really mean me ;) are already dreaming about those beautiful sunny days when we can all gather on the lawn and showcase our cars. We get to hang out with our fellow PCA members, have a few laughs, shine up our cars and look forward to the possibility of bringing a trophy home for our efforts and cheering on our fellow PCA members when they take home concours trophies. If this sounds like the kind of fun you’re looking forward to in 2019, I like the way you think!
With this in mind, it’s not too early to start think- ing about putting a plan together on detailing your car to get it ready for show day. Whether you are going to detail it yourself or have it done professionally you can start the planning now. This might entail looking at your detailing sup- plies, taking an inventory and ordering the items you are going to need. If you are having your car detailed professionally, you could get an early
jump on scheduling your appointment. Either way, getting ahead of the tasks at hand can make it easier to have your car prepared for a concours event.
This year I would like to invite all our Metro NY PCA members to join us at our concours events. If you haven’t been to a concours event yet I’m sitting here asking you, why not? You’re definite- ly missing out on a day to remember, including some of the most amazing pictures you can post on your social media accounts.
One of my wishes for the new year is to have all Metro NY PCA members who have never en- tered their car into a concours event come and join us. Yes, I know that’s an ambitious wish,
but when you see a huge field of Porsches at a concours event you’ll know why it’s one of my wishes for 2019. So, come on down to some of the concours events this year and say hello. My wife and I will be there with our 2011 Porsche Cayman S and we look forward to all of you join- ing us.
From the entire Metro NY PCA Concours team we look forward to seeing your smiling faces and beautiful Porsches out on the lawn.
Thanks for reading, Dave Neese
