Trekking With Stew & Sue Teichman
Today was a good day. It is the last day of March, it’s 54 degrees and I just picked up the Porsche from winter storage. Although there is another threat of a “wintery mix” on Monday, I did not want to go any longer without having it back in my garage. Joe Kandel and I are already planning a little road trip next week so I hope the roads
are all dry and salt free by then.
This is one of those years where the holidays of Passover and Easter coincide so I would like to wish all of our members a Happy Holiday.
Sue and I are busy finishing up the route for our first trek to Blu Pointe on the Hudson in Newburg, New York on Saturday June 9th. I can tell you that the route is shaping up nicely and will include some great roads and scenery. We are really looking forward to it. By the time you read this issue of the Post, trek day will be just around the corner. So my advice is, if you have not already signed up for it, do it now so you don’t get closed out. The flier is in this issue and there is also a link to it on the website.
The second trek will take place on Sunday, August 12th. We have already scouted out several locations and will announce that one in the near future. We also are putting together the weekend trek which will most likely be a full weekend and take place October 19th-21st. When we do the full weekend it usually includes dinner and getting to the destination on your own on Friday night, then the club activities begin with breakfast on Saturday, an organized trek on Saturday with lunch, dinner on Satur- day evening and breakfast on Sunday followed by everyone’s departure afterwards. Of course, we always negotiate group room rates for anyone who chooses to arrive
early or stay an extra day or two.
As I mentioned previously, keep an eye on the website because we just might surprise everyone by throwing in an extra day trek this year.
So now that winter is officially over, it’s time to get back out on the road and renew old friendships and make new ones. I can think of no better way than to spend more time doing club activities. Whether you have never trekked with us or are a regular, we welcome you to join us for some good driving, some good food and some good times. Remember, now that the weather is on our side, just keep on trekkin’.
